Worldwide Virtual was established in August 2011 with a core group dedicated to providing a virtual flying experience free from restrictive rules, emphasizing enjoyment and flexibility for all pilots. Initially, growth was gradual; however, around 2013, the community experienced significant expansion as many new pilots joined our ranks.
As Worldwide Virtual grew and our pilot base expanded, we recognized the limitations of our initial platform, PHPVMS. To meet the evolving needs of our community and provide a more flexible and customizable experience, we embarked on an ambitious project: developing our proprietary ASP Virtual Airline Management System (ASPVAMS) entirely in-house. The initial version provided a solid foundation for early operations, but significant lessons were learned during its development.
In 2017, ASPVAMS underwent a complete rewrite, retaining minimal elements of the original code base. This major overhaul incorporated valuable feedback from our community and resulted in a significantly enhanced platform. Recognizing the need for a scalable and future-proof solution to support our continued growth, we began planning for an even more advanced system.
This vision culminated in 2025 with the transition to VirtualAero, representing the culmination of years of development and innovation. This next-generation platform is designed with modern architecture and technologies, ensuring long-term stability, enhanced performance, and expanded capabilities. It allows us to seamlessly integrate new features, support evolving simulation standards, and provide an even more immersive experience for our pilots. The development of VirtualAero represents a significant investment in the future of Worldwide Virtual, solidifying our commitment to providing a leading virtual airline experience.
